I grew up in the area in the 50's, and my first meeting with beloved Minnewaska was as a girl scout .. for 30 years I lived among the natural wonders of New England and California/New Mexico .. I returned to this area, and both Hotels & the 'Life' of Minnewaska burned to the ground -- were these fires deliberately set ??? -- I cannot believe that treasures such as these, if they were located in a region that truly cared about their 'natural wonders', would allow such destruction to take place ! -- thank god the lake itself still stands .. perhaps that is as it should be.. Nature reclaims what humans cannot ...
