Camping IN the park?

Hi everybody,
I am an avid hiker/backpacker and I am a little confused as to the camping regulations in NY state parks. If I am only going for a quick overnight am I able to just hike in and camp as long as its "leave no trace" and I camp 150ft from trails and waterways?

You can camp on DEC land, state forests, and designated campsites in parks. You cannot camp in wildlife reserves or state preserves.
