I will be lost if they close Minnewaska...

I am forwarding this info on to my friends and family even if they don't live in the area. So far, my senator and assemblyman are against closing the parks. Hopefully everyone that is aware will do what they can.

I agree, I will also be lost if they close Minnewaska. I didn't know about this until after I paid for the 2010 Empire Park pass....... I do live close enough that I can hike into the park from home, but I've always bought a pass and gone though the gate for their records.

I just had this debate with my buddy. Seems like it will take more rangers to keep people out than it does to collect money.

From what I can gather, Minnewaska was the recipient of a Federal grant a couple of years ago. Part of the stipulations of the grant is that the park remain open for some timeframe, so I don't see how the state could propose that it be closed.

One local politician said that putting Minnewaska on the list was a " budgetary bargaining tool".

uhm, ok

I really can't see them closing Minnewaska. They could never keep people out and would lose all that revenue.
